Yellow Rattle

Yellow Rattle is a member of the Figwort family, hence the characteristic lipped flowers. These are mainly yellow, but the upper lip usually has purple markings like teeth and is bent downwards. The leaves are sharply toothed and the seeds rattle when ripe.

Widespread on grassland and fens, flowering from late spring until the end of summer.
