Dog's Mercury

Dog's Mercury is a common plant carpeting woodlands in spring throughout much of the country. More noticeable for the dark green leaves than the slender greenish catkins with yellow anthers (pollen bearing part).

In flower from late winter to late spring, mainly in woodlands, but also on fairly shady banks and waysides.
