Pineapple Mayweed

Pineapple Mayweed ... often shortened to just "Pineappleweed".

Well, it's a small green flower without petals that turns up from midsummer onwards along with many other weeds. In my experience it seems to favour compacted ground such as footpaths rather than more recently disturbed land.

It is said to smell of pineapple when crushed, hence the name. There seems to be some truth in this. Look out for it from late spring through to the end of autumn.
