Birdseye Primrose

The Birdseye Primrose was my Holy Grail during a week in Yorkshire and finally I found it! The flowers are pale pink or rosy violet with a yellow eye, 5 petals, and at the end of a long, mealy stalk. Confusion with any other flower is unlikely.

Found only in the north of England in damp, hilly areas on calcareous soil. Flowers in May and June.
