Scarlet Pimpernel

A prostrate plant, spreading at ground level, Scarlet Pimpernel is a common garden weed with rather pretty, small vermilion red flowers with purplish eyes that can be easily overlooked by colourblind people such as me.

Common in England and Wales, but apparently not in Scotland, the flowers come out from late spring to mid autumn.
