Common Mallow

Common Mallow is a plant easily identified by the clusters of pink-purple flowers with clear, dark veins. Common in England and Wales on bare ground, in hedges and often near houses. The books say it flowers during summer and early autumn, although I have actually seen one in flower beside a field on Christmas Eve.
