Cuckoo Flower

The Cuckoo Flower or Lady's Smock is a common, delicate, pale lilac coloured flower found in damp meadows and beside rivers in spring.

Another local name is the Mayflower. It is thought that the ship on which the Pilgrim Fathers sailed to America was probably named after it (thanks to Jill Verran, a near neighbour, for this information).
